Para perguntar a razão de algo. A resposta começa com because.

Why pergunta. Because responde.

A fórmula da pergunta segue o padrão das Wh- questions: Why + auxiliar + sujeito + verbo. A resposta usa because + frase completa.

Simple Present Why do you study English? — Because I want a better job.
Simple Past Why did she leave early? — Because she was tired.
Present Continuous Why are they crying? — Because the movie is sad.
To be Why is he happy? — Because he got promoted.

Whose

"De quem?" — para perguntar a quem algo pertence. A resposta usa o caso possessivo ou um pronome possessivo.

Whose + substantivo + auxiliar?

Diferente de "who" (quem é). Whose pergunta o dono. A resposta geralmente vem com 's ou pronome possessivo (mine, yours, his...).

Whose + objeto + is/are Whose book is this? — It's Maria's. / It's mine.
Plural Whose keys are these? — They're John's. / They're his.

Contração de "who is" ou "who has".

! Tem apóstrofo? É contração de who is. Sem apóstrofo? É posse — whose.
